Island get away 2 Siapan and Tinian

Once again it was time to escape the rigors of the beach and go rest on a beach. And this time with friends! Since we had all been to Siapan and had missed the chance to go to Tinian. It was decided that that would be where we would go and what we would do. Tinain is where the a-bombs were loaded onto the planes for the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Since the planes sat so low and the bombs were so big. Pits were built with lifts in them. Special trailers moved the bombs over the pits the bombs were lowered down, the plane pulled over the pits and the bombs were raised in place. History in a far flung place that happened in my childhood. An added bonus was that i was told there were special dream interpeters on Siapan. So i wanted to see what that was all about.

THE JOURNEY BEGINS---------with a ride in a special plane

After a 40 minute ride in this strange looking turbo prop mini-plane and landing on Siapan, we noticed what looked like a toy plane sitting behind a hanger. And had a laugh about it being the plane to Tinian, but when we went to the freedom air terminal we discovered it wasn't funny cause that toy "was" our plane.

So as soon as we got over our fearfull giggles we went through security and boarded Da plane. No midgets in sight.

Charlie and Wendy got in the front row and after settling in and having a disscussion why the right front door was opening as we were taxing down the runway (it's the air con while the palne is on the ground we were told) They looked back to see how i was doing in the rear with the luggae and someones spare tire. (no not mine! The one behind the seat)

Now it's one thing to be cruel to short people! But there is no reason to treat a tall handsome chunky monkey like this. But being a man of constant good humor i took the high road and met it all with a smile. "my knees however were mad as hell" And im glad there are no picture of me getting out of the plane, not a pretty picture i can tell you. But we made it and were off in search of the North Field and other  sites of Tinian. and some lunch at a local resturant which turned out to be amazingly good and of major perportions. I ordered a light lunch of toasted cheese sandwich and soup. Sandwich was normal but soup was one quart (no i did not eat it all) it's the shirt!!
THE BOMB PITS

After our tour of Tinian was over it was back to Siapan for check in to the Fiesta hotel which was a great hotel at a good price. Hotel was like a little city complete with resturants, pools and entertainment. One could go here and never leave the grounds and have a good trip. We were more adventerous than that so as soon as we got a short rest it was off to Big Cadillacs and Meat ball sandwiches and an adult beverage.
DREAM INTERPETERS
As we were strolling along returning to the hotel we ran into said subject interpeters, although they seemed a little young and were eager to talk to us. We decline the $40.00 service, but one said she would help me if i told her me dream in as few words as possable

. So i told her i kept getting the same dream of a strange female coming up behind me wrapping her arms around me and nibbling on my neck. She then took a bite out of an orange and promply kissed me on my neck. Since your not going to pay for the full service all i can do for you is this she said. Do not take a shower or wash your neck until tomorrow night. Sometime tomorrow when you least expect it your dream will come true. AND IT DID just when i was least expecting it. I just hope it's really female
All was well we enjoyed the island and seen all the sights dispite all being lousy map readers we found every thing but the light house but we did get to see it from down below (you have to have been on the island to understand that even big roads can end suddenly in someones yard) We even got to see this fine fellow. Way too many pictures to put on here, but you can check these islands out on line and see thier world war II history involving the fall of Japan.
Of course all trips end so we ended the last night with a stroll thru town and a rest on the beach and ice cream sundaes.

.
And the next morning seeing the end of the island by the airport and cakes at bake goods at HermensBakery and coffe shop. And a purchase of those mystical popsicles everyone raves about on Guam. Then it was off to the airport were we discovered that no liquid in your carry on included popsicles. But they were nice and didn't take Wendy to jail, nor shut down the airport. just to luggae check in. They were even nice enough to return her to the boarding area. Lucky we wern't in L.A. or we'd all be on the news.

Well sports fans that the end of this adventure, stay tuned more excitement coming your way soon. As i head home in a month and move on to adventures in gypsy life. Oh did i tell you about my new Studebakers yet. But then thats another story. Remember you can't realize your dreams until you get out of that chair.
