Red Horse Unit old Army Eng. HD 16 Memory Lane

Today being the 5th of July for me was good for a walk in the park down At Asan beach. And a tour of the Indepedence day displays set up there. One of which was this old Army Eng. HD 16 Allis Chalmers Dozer that the Red Horse Squadron (The Air force Construction Folks) along with all thier other modern equipments. Such as self erectiong buildings and fast concrete runway repair machinery, and other trick items that replace the sore back and the pick and shovel.
Of course for me this was another walk down memory lane, as i've spent a few hours working on these puppies and it's relatives like the HD 20 and 21. With thier switch over to the Budda engine after buying out that company. They became a dozer to be reckoned with, and the power war was on. But the early models had one big advantage over Cat! No pony motor, which ment easy starting.
But they couldn't overcome the bad rep from the 40's with the trans and final drive problems. And like the much villified International and those nasty green machines who's name we will not say. (i'm afriad of the Beattle Juice syndrome) they kind of faded away. But it's still nice to see one now and then. what say you John A. do you miss em?
