A pleasant 78 mile journey over to Sonita via Nogales for breakfast, then Highway 89 thru Patagonia, drifting by winery's and grape fields of Elgin. Then the 30 mile drive up the mountain to the lake on "surprise" newly paved roads". Nice lake, new fishing and boat docks, lots of picnic areas, and a number of tent or RV spots.
After a pleasant kumbaya at the Lake it was down the mountain, via the Ft Huachuca road to the back gate, hoping to travel through the fort to Sierra Vista. If you take this short cut be prepared to show I.D. and the possibility of being turned away. If that happens you have to go back to Elgin via the lower road to HI. 89. Fortunately we made it, and toured the fort a bit before heading out the gate. For a quick look at Ramsey Canyon.
Our next destination the German Cafe blocks off of HI-92.
Shiecken mit Brats, kraut, und Kortofle salat. or any of the other items on the menu.schoen gut.
9smoked pork chop, with brats, sauerkraut, and german potato salad. Very good)
Like stuffed whales in a tin can, it was off to the San Pedro Riparian Preserve to finish up the wanderings, before heading back to grin town. (Green Valley
All was well, another nice road adventure, with the sman and friends. Look beyond your door, there is in your world than you know. Seek and ye shall find.
