Rat Rod Gathering In Low Places

After so many billet and chrome shows, and as a prelude to attending the Rockabilly Reunion in Lake Havasu. I received an invitation to attend a Garage Kill Billit  Rat Rod show. Complete with a garage band, kiddie beer cooler and free access to the cars in progress. Entry fee! One gallon of chili to be placed in a communal pot, and a good attitude.

After cruzing through the garage and the linups of cars in random spots. Everyone settled into meeting new folks, renewing old acquaintances. Talking cars, retelling old adventures, and telling a tall tale or two.

Watching pinstripe magic on a old caddy, and dipping into the chili, hot dogs, beer and for me a cool lemonade.

Ask dusk settled in the band set up and the evening mellowed out. As  the favorite tunes from different years floated threw the air.

Finally it was the Rats Turn to get pinstriped. Which
was interesting to watch. I could not do it with all
the people watching over my shoulder. But the he
never missed a beat.

As the end drew near, we all gathered around for the drawing. I was fortunate to win the Majority of the prizes. two hats, a set of scooter googles, and the grand prize. The torch carved, welder enhanced, exhaust pipe Tiki God complete with nose ring and palm tree hair do.

A great ending to a fun Garage car show, sometimes the best things in life happen at low places. I'll be there next year you can count on it. Now all i need is for the storm to move on as promised and i can get loaded up and on my way to the Rockabilly Reunion at Lake Havasu. Life is good when you eat dessert first. Asta La Wego.
