This old house a blast from the past

The year is 1976 a young couple, two young kids, the best dog ever (queenie the big poodle) and an old mansion on the hill. And a husband/father who's a born gypsy working from life change number 12 Maintenece Supt. at a mop factory headed for number 13.

The place Atchison,Kansas The house a former town biggies house from the late 20s. Six bedrooms upstairs, a den, a parlor, a formal room and a huge kitchen with pantry down stairs. A basement with a coal room, a cold pantry, (ya gotta be a Midwesterner to know that one) and two other rooms for laundry and other things. Hardwood floors, sliding wall doors to shut of the parlor and the formal room. Those cool counter weight windows, and an endless front porch which is now much reduced. Hardwood floors, wallpaper, and painted plaster walls. what more could one ask for. Why to own it of course, we didn't and the day came when the owner wanted it back for relatives.

So it was off to Nortonville and a house one third this size with a garden and an addition of a blind St Bernard just before life change number 13. Which required a month of running behind and collapsing on a pickup bed. Can a 34 year old run the mile in under nine minutes I wanna be a Fire Fighter baby. Hell yes he did, much to the dismay of all those 27 and under lads who couldn't.

Now I'm at life change whatever and after returning to Guam from a short business trip and a little after hours side trip down memory lane that was in the area. I have too put up with this view. and a two room apartment. Yeah baby i got the gypsy in me!
